When I graduated high school in 1996, I began working at a florist shop. I washed buckets, cut flowers, cleaned the cooler, and delivered arrangements. Deliveries were the best part of my day. I loved mapping out the best route and being in the florist van with the air and the radio blasting. Plus, seeing the reactions of the recipients of my deliveries was always a joy.
My first Valentine’s Day at the florist was truly eye-opening. We were so busy I got promoted to floral designer. I learned how to make a Dozen Red Rose Vase Arrangement. After about 100 of those in 2 days, I was excited to start to learn other techniques. I worked at the florist full time for the next 2 years.
